Big Cats lose to OTC, Wheaton
by Jodi Thorson
The Big Cats were hindered this week with injuries and absences and lost to OTC by a score of 11-4. OTC had a very effective pitcher and the Cats bats were silenced for the first six innings. Offensively, Brady Sumstad, George Ilstrup, Jesse Andreason, Carter Duncan, and Spencer Ilstrup each had one hit. Big Cats pitcher Spencer Ilstrup was pulled early with an injury. Lefty Charlie Grenson then made his debut as a Big Cat pitcher against the good hitting OTC team. “Charlie pitched very well and maintained his composure when we had some defensive breakdowns,” said Coach Ilstrup. “We will make some adjustments on defense, and work at getting more production through our entire batting order.”

Big Cats-3 Wheaton-6
The Cats stranded 11 base runners in their loss to Wheaton on Thursday. “The team has some work to do with situational defense, but overall, we keep making improvements. Some of the guys are becoming more productive at the plate, getting used to better pitching, and I hope a few changes help us get some wins,” said Coach Sam Ilstrup. Brady Combs, Tyler Holl, Charlie Grenson, Brady Sumstad and Carter Duncan each recorded a hit. Spencer Ilstrup and George Ilstrup had two hits apiece. George Ilstrup lasted 6 2/3 innings on the mound with one earned run and 4 K’s, and Eric Blehr came out firing for the last out of the game.
