Every year, Grant County participates in the Statewide Tornado Drill. This provides two opportunities throughout the day to practice your safety plan – how and where to take cover. This year the State Tornado Drill will take place on Thursday April 20th at 1:45 pm and again at 6:45 pm.
Please take the opportunity to practice at home, at school, at work, or even at the park! It may seem like it isn’t important now, but if you ever experience a real tornado – seconds may save your life. You will be happy you took the couple of minutes to practice your plan.
In addition to the Tornado Drill, this week is set aside to talk about other summer hazards that pose a real risk to you and your community.
Lightning, hail, extreme heat, as well as extended power outages are real and potential hazards we all face. There are many simple things to you can now, to better prepare and be self-sustaining after an incident.
Grant County is not immune to these potential hazards. Our communities and townships are important to us, so we want to provide good information and realistic instructions, so you can choose to make your safety – as well as those you care about – a priority.
