Grain bin fire
There was a grain dryer fire at the Red River Marketing Company, south of Elbow Lake, early last Thursday morning. The Elbow Lake Fire Department, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, and Prairie Ridge Ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Mutual aid was obtained from the Barrett, Wendell, and Herman Fire Departments. The Salvation Army supplied food and water at the scene for the fire fighters who fought the fire for five hours before putting it out. There were approximately 3000 bushels of corn in the dryer which had grain bins on each side, making access difficult. A grain bin also had fire in it but was kept under control and put out. The grain dryer sustained heavy damage.
